ATTENDANCE POLICY - THUMBS UP THEATRE TORONTO

(For In-Person Events Only)
This policy exists to promote fairness, respect, and responsible participation in our group events — especially when discounts, promo codes, and limited seating are involved.

Why This Policy Exists
We’ve created this policy in response to:

• A high number of no-shows at some events
• Members requesting and receiving promo codes, then failing to attend or pay the meetup fee

We understand that emergencies happen. But repeated no-shows, last-minute cancellations, and lack of follow-through are not acceptable. This policy helps to:

• Reward members with strong attendance
• Encourage courtesy and commitment
• Prevent abuse of privileges
• Ensure limited spots go to engaged members

What Counts as a "No Show"
You’ll be marked as a no-show if you:

• Don’t attend an event you RSVPed for, or
• Cancel your RSVP after 6 p.m. the night before or on the day of the event

✅ No penalty if you:

• Bought your ticket in advance and shared your seat number with the organizer
• Offered your ticket for free to other members

Members in Good Standing
Members with solid attendance records receive:

• Priority access to events with limited space
• Eligibility for free tickets and other perks
• Occasional leniency for unexpected no-shows

Promo Code Eligibility
You become eligible for discount promo codes after you:

• Attend three theatre events with Thumbs Up, or
• Pay the $3 meetup fee in advance

Promo code privileges may be revoked if:

• You receive a promo code, then don’t show up at the meetup location
• You don’t pay the $3 fee (for yourself and your guests)

🧾 Promo code privileges can be restored by paying your outstanding fees, but you may be required to pay the meet fee in advance for a period of time

Promo Code Rules

• Promo codes must be requested directly from the organizer
• They are only for the use of the eligible member and their registered guests
• Sharing promo codes is strictly prohibited

🚫 Sharing a code with anyone else will result in automatic removal and ban from the group.

Signing up with Guests

• You must RSVP with all guests listed
• If you fail to register your guest(s) after requesting a promo code, you may be removed and banned

Limited Space Events & Waitlists

• Priority is given to members with good attendance
• Members with poor records or unpaid fees will not be offered spots
• Waitlisted members may be approved at the organizer’s discretion

⚠️ If you receive a confirmed spot and:

• No-show, or
• Cancel with less than 24 hours’ notice

→ You may be fined $10 per person or removed from the group
→ Promo code privileges may be reinstated once the fine is paid

Poor Attendance
You’ll lose promo code/event privileges if:

• Your no-shows equal or exceed your total number of attended events

You’ll be removed and banned if:

• Your no-shows exceed your attended events by 10 or more, or
• You repeatedly cancel with less than 24 hours' notice

✅ You can restore your standing by attending more events than you’ve missed.

Refusal to Pay Fees
A member will be removed and banned if they:

• Refuse to pay the $3 meetup fee or try to avoid paying it after receiving a promo code
• Show up without RSVPing and refuse to pay the fee while socializing with the group
