ATTENDANCE POLICY

ATTENDANCE POLICY

This attendance policy is for in-person events only. It has been created in response to:

* a high number of no-shows at some meetups and

* members requesting, and receiving, discount promo codes and then failing to show up at the meetup spot or pay the meetup fee

Much work goes into organizing Thumbs Up meetups and arranging discount promo codes. It's disrespectful for a member to sign up for an event and then fail to show up, or cancel at the last minute.

Sometimes members with good attendance records are ill or there's an emergency preventing attendance. This is understandable. However, some members chronically fail to show up. This is not acceptable.

This policy is designed to:

* Reward members with good attendance records

* Promote "responsible attendance" in which members demonstrate respect and courtesy for Thumbs Up hosts by showing up for the meetups they have signed up for

* Ensure members who attend Thumbs Up meetups are vested in our group

* Prevent abuse of privileges by members who are not vested in our group

* Discourage hoarding of attendees' spots at limited-space meetups by members who have no serious intention of actually attending the meetup

DEFINITION OF A NO-SHOW

For the purposes of this attendance policy, a "no show" at a meetup is defined as:

* Failure of a member to attend an event for which he or she has signed up and is on the attendees' list for OR

* Changing a signup on the day of the meetup, or any time after 10 p.m. the night before, from attending to not attending.

A "no show" will NOT be recorded for a member in good standing who doesn't show up IF they:

* Purchase an advance ticket and post their seat number on the event page (or e-mail the seat number to the event host) AND

* Offer their ticket for sale to the group

MEMBERS WITH GOOD ATTENDANCE

Members with good attendance records will be given priority for attendance at events with waiting lists, for day trips, for passenger spots in carpools and for special perks such as free tickets.

Members with good records may be given special consideration if they no-show at a meetup.

EVENTS WITH PROMO CODES

New and existing members become eligible to receive discount promo codes after they:

* attend at least five Thumbs Up involving involving the purchase of live theatre tickets OR

* pay the meetup fee in advance

Members must have good attendance to receive promo codes.

An eligible member will lose his/her privilege of receiving discount promo codes if he or she requests and receives a promo code for a Thumbs Up event and

* does not show up at the meetup spot and

* does not pay the $2 meetup fee for themselves and each of their guests (if any).

A member's privilege to receive promo codes will be restored if he/she pays the owed meetup fees.

Once a member receives a promo code for a show, he or she must pay the $2 meetup fee for themselves and each of their guests, no matter how much advance notice they may give of no longer attending that meetup. However, this requirement may be waived if the member has a good, well established attendance record.

REQUESTS FOR CODES FOR MULTIPLE SHOWS

Eligible embers requesting promo codes for two or more shows at any given period of time must pay the meetup fee for each of those events in advance. The fee must be paid for themselves and each of their guests before the code(s) will be provided.

USE OF PROMO CODES

All members must request and receive discount promo codes directly from the Thumbs Up founder/ organizer.

These codes are only provided to eligible members. The codes are only for use by those eligible members to purchase discount tickets for themselves and any guests they may have signed up with.

The sharing of promo codes by eligible members with other members or non-members is not permitted.

Any member found sharing a promo code with another person will be automatically removed from Thumbs Up and banned from rejoining.

SIGNING UP WITH GUESTS

Members must sign up with all their guests for all meetups. Members who fail to do so, and who request and receive a promo code, may be removed and banned from the group.

EVENTS WITH WAIT LISTS

Members with good, established records will be given priority for attendee spots for limited-attendance events.

Members, who owe meetup or other fees, and/or who have poor attendance records, will NOT be given spot(s) on attendees' lists for limited-attendance events.

When possible, standby spots will be offered to members on the waiting list (including members in good standing and new members). Standbys must apply to, and be approved by, the Thumbs Up founder/ organizer.

A member, who is given an attendee's spot for a limited-attendance event, and fails to show, or cancels with less than 24 hours' notice, may be fined $10 plus $10 for each of his/her guests (if they had attendees' spots), or be removed and banned from Thumbs Up.

A member who owes a penalty may restore his/her promo code privileges if he or she pays the penalty.

MEMBERS WITH POOR ATTENDANCE

A member will lose his or her privilege of receiving discount promo codes if the number of times he or she no-showed at Thumbs Up events exceeds the number of times he or she attended Thumbs Up events.

Such a member will also lose his or her privilege of being on an attendees' list for Thumbs Up limited-space events.

The member may restore his or her privileges by:

*attending more Thumbs Up meetups so that the number of times he or she attended exceeds the number of meetups he or she no-showed at

A member will be removed and banned from Thumbs Up if the number of his or her no-shows exceeds by 10 the number of events he or she they attended.

A member may also be removed and banned if he or she frequently cancels his or her signup with less than 24 hours' notice.

REFUSAL TO PAY MEETUP FEE

A member who refuses to pay the meetup fee at an event will be removed and banned from Thumbs Up.

MISCELLANEOUS

A member who shows up for an event, but who hasn't signed up, must pay the $2 meetup fee if he or she wishes to join and socialize with the group. Refusal to pay the meetup fee while socializing with members will result in removal from Thumbs Up.
