### Restless Spirits, Strange Stories & Toronto After Dark

The thing about ghosts is… they don’t always stay where they died.
Sometimes they linger in places they loved. Sometimes they remain where unfinished business keeps them tethered. And sometimes, apparently, they just really like a particular chair.

On this walking tour, we'll explore some of the stranger stories connected to Queen West and Yonge Street — from hospitals and theatres to music halls, historic buildings, and some rather unexpected places.
Some of these people met their fate on these streets.
Most didn't.

Ghosts are funny that way.

This is a curated storytelling experience, combining Toronto history, local legends, and some of the city's more unusual ghost stories.
And don't worry — we're not going inside the buildings.

## 👻 What We'll Explore

We'll begin outside the Four Seasons Centre for the Performing Arts and make our way east toward Yonge Street.
Along the way, we'll hear stories about:

• 🔫 Don't play with guns… again
• 🙏 “This is my hospital,” said the Nun
• 🎶 The spirit who stayed for the music
• 🪑 Who sat in that chair?
• 👻 Other strange stories, unexplained encounters, and Toronto legends

We'll finish at Yonge-Dundas Square.
The walk will take approximately 90 minutes, depending on the pace of the group.

We'll remain outdoors throughout the experience and will not be entering any buildings.

This isn't simply a walk where someone points out a few supposedly haunted buildings.
I've researched the stories, developed the route, and brought the different pieces together into a single experience.
Some stories are rooted in Toronto history.
Some have been passed down as local legends.
And some leave you wondering whether there might actually be something to them.
You can decide what you believe. 👻

We’re heading out to see a movie together, then grabbing food or drinks after. If the film's great (or terrible), we’ll probably talk about it forever. If it’s just okay, we’ll talk about it for 10 minutes and move on to everything else — books, dating apps, weird dreams, how Toronto keeps getting more expensive, etc.

Let’s hit the road for another Doors Open adventure! We’ll be heading to beautiful Doors Open Niagara-on-the-Lake to explore historic buildings, cultural sites, and hidden spaces that are rarely open to the public.
Nick has been a Doors Open Toronto volunteer for over two decades, and he always enjoys checking out Doors Open events in other cities. Niagara-on-the-Lake is known for its incredible heritage architecture, charming streets, and fascinating history—making it a perfect destination for a Doors Open day trip.

### 🏛️ What is Doors Open?

If you’ve never attended before, Doors Open is a free architectural and cultural event held in communities across Ontario. For one special weekend, cities open the doors to historic buildings, cultural institutions, churches, theatres, and other interesting spaces—many of which are normally closed to the public.
Visitors can explore at their own pace, learn about local history, and sometimes go behind the scenes with guided tours or special access.

### 🗓️ The Plan

• Departure: 8:00 AM from just outside Christie Station
• Transportation: Rental minivan or SUV
• Destination: Niagara-on-the-Lake
• Spend the day exploring Doors Open sites around town
• Time permitting we may be able to visit Niagara Falls after for a few photos/sightseeing
• Return to Toronto: Around 6:00 PM, depending on traffic

You’re welcome to explore with the group or wander off to check out sites that interest you most. The day will be relaxed and flexible.

### Island Paths, Fall Colours & Toronto's Best Urban Escape

There is something magical about the Toronto Islands in the fall.
Once the summer crowds disappear, the islands become quieter and more peaceful. The changing leaves, crisp air, open green spaces, quiet cottages, and golden light over the water make it one of the best times of year to explore.
And then there's the skyline.

From the islands, you get some of the best views of Toronto anywhere in the city — especially when the fall colours frame the downtown skyline across the water.

Join us for a relaxed fall walk through Hanlan's Point, Centre Island, and Ward's Island, enjoying the scenery, fresh air, and great conversation along the way.
This is approximately 9 km, with mostly flat paths and no major hills. It's a longer walk, but the pace will be relaxed and we'll take breaks along the way

## 🚶‍♂️ What We'll Do

We'll take the 10:15 AM Ward's Island Ferry and begin our walk once we arrive.

Our route will take us through:
🌿 Hanlan's Point
🍂 Centre Island
🏡 Ward's Island
📸 Skyline viewpoints
🌊 Waterfront pathways
🍁 Fall foliage and quiet island roads

We'll stop along the way to enjoy the scenery, take photos, have a snack, and spend some time getting to know each other.

Although we'll pass several beaches, we won't be stopping at them during this event. We have a route to follow and a ferry to catch!

Our return ferry will be the 2:45 PM Ward's Island Ferry back to downtown Toronto.

Expect approximately 3½ to 4 hours, including the ferry rides and breaks.

## 🍁 Fall Weather & Expectations

The islands can feel quite different from downtown Toronto, especially in the fall. Expect cooler temperatures, wind off the lake, and changing weather.
Please dress in layers and bring a jacket or sweater.
This is a social walk, not a guided historical tour. I'll share interesting facts along the way, but the focus is enjoying the islands together.

📍 Meetup Location: INSIDE the Jack Layton Ferry Terminal after your ticket has been scanned.
We are meeting inside the paid waiting area beside the washrooms.
Please do NOT wait outside the terminal.

Once your ferry ticket has been scanned, walk into the waiting area and you'll find me wearing my Moose Hat. 🫎

🚢 Ward's Island Ferry LEAVES AT: 10:15 AM

Please be on time. Once the ferry leaves, it will be extremely difficult to catch up with the group.
