What we’re about
Our main goal/ mission is to explore as many wonderful hikes/ snowshoe trails, snowboarding, skiing, hut trips, camping, backpacking, spelunking, canyoneering, etc.,as well as general socializing, restaurants/pubs/taverns as possible in a safe and responsible manner, so that members can get a greater sense of all that Colorado has to offer and enjoy. Some of these we have experienced before, but many will be new to us as well.

See all- Fabby Sand Dunes Adventure in Deon TimeNeeds location
This is prime season is GSDNP: warm days, cool nights, sand that's just the right temperature for bare feet, and chilly waters in the rushing snow-melt in Medano Creek. We'll do the best of the GSDNP back-country: long hikes through the dunes, the surrounding sagebrush and pinion pine forest, and down in the chilly waters of Medano Creek. We'll have campfires every night. And we'll take-in the night sky.
ITINERARY- Thursday May 8: depart Denver in the AM or mid-day and drive 4 hours to Deweese Reservoir campground near Westcliffe.
- Friday May 9: Start early for the 4hour drive via Walsenburg into the park, set-up camp in the park's Pinion Flats campground, drive 3 miles down the backcountry dirt road, scale the 2nd highest peak in the park, and then drop 800 feet by cartwheeling down the steep embankment, falling into the creek, and hiking down the creek to the cars.
- Saturday May 10: Drop cars on the backcountry dirt road, Tackle one of the 10 best hikes anywhere in Colorado: a long loop through sage and forest, then through dunes, then and down the chilly creek to the cars.
- Sunday the 11th: Drive one hour to Zapata Falls, hike an hour to the falls, the drive two hours to the Sand Dunes Pool and green house near Hooper and soak, then drive two hours to Buena Vista for late lunch or early dinner, then drive home.
