The Mother of All Demos - Dec 8, 1968

Online event

Our meeting is in honor of "The Mother of All Demos", a name retroactively applied to a landmark computer demonstration. Given on December 8, 1968, it demonstrated almost all the fundamental elements of modern personal computing: windows, hypertext, graphics, efficient navigation and command input, video conferencing, the computer mouse (shown in the picture is William English testing the first mouse), word processing, dynamic file linking, revision control, and a collaborative real-time editor. The presentation was the first to publicly demonstrate all of these elements in a single system.
