We'll be shown how to roll burritos in a kitchen and then serve them along with sandwiches, cookies, snacks and fruit at tables set up outside. The local Burrito Project is part a loose-knit, grassroots charity where volunteers in various cities around the country make burritos and provide them to the homeless. The program began in 1996 in San Francisco. More than just food, it's about offering hope, dignity and a friendly face to those in need.
Though reservations aren't yet open, you're welcome to now let us know if you might be interested. Join us for a fun afternoon at the United Way's office at CityPlace in downtown West Palm Beach. Using such basic supplies as markers, crayons, glue, paper and scissors, we'll decorate literacy kits that'll be distributed free to local pre-K and kindergarten children to encourage their love of reading. All supplies are provided and no special drawing or craft-making skill is needed. Everyone is welcome. Take note that we will not be working with children. Parking is free in one of the nearby garages. Just bring in your ticket to receive a voucher. Snacks, coffee and water will be provided. The event will begin with a talk about the United Way's local activities. NOTE - This is a multi-group Meetup.
