(I've cancelled this event due to marginal weather and confirmation from most they can attend Fri).
Want to start the Holiday Season off right? Join us for the second annual Christmas Light Skate fun!
This is a no-drop skate open to all skaters (but may not be suitable for true beginners). We will skate at a speed that everyone is comfortable with and regroup if necessary. We will skate approximately 10 miles in a time period of about 1.5 hours to see most of the lights in this area (time includes stops/regroups). Actual distance / time will depend on the abilities and interest of those who attend. Afterward we may get something to eat at either Earth Fare or one of the local restaurants.
You must be comfortable skating on roads through a neighborhood area and in semi-dark conditions (bring your lights and reflectors)! Most of the roads are well lit and in very good condition. There will be a few intersections to cross as well as a few curbs.
We'll meet at Earth Fare parking lot in Brierdale Shopping Center (Brier Creek area). This is in the smaller shopping center near the entrance to Brier Creek Country club at the intersection of Brier Creek Parkway and Lumley Rd. Here's a Google Maps link to Earth Fare (http://tinyurl.com/6g2x8f). Earth Fare is in the same shopping center as Chick-fil-A and Wachovia.
As with the ATT skate, braking skills are required. (Let us know if you need some braking tips.) Also with all our group skates, helmets are required. Wrist guards, elbow and knee pads are recommended. Reflectors and lights are highly recommended!
Let's meet at 6:30pm and start skating by 6:45pm. If you can't arrive early, please try to gear up as quickly as you can when you do arrive. In the event of questionable weather we will make a go/no-go call 90 minutes before the scheduled start so check the Meetup site after 5:15pm.
Hope you'll join us!
