Are you interested in learning how to code, but not sure if a seven-month developer training program is right for you? Do you want to get a feel for what it's like to be a Turing student?
Join us for "Try Turing"—a two-day program that will expose you to what it's like to be a student at the Turing School of Software & Design. During each day, we'll introduce you to one of our two programs.
During the first day, you'll learn the basics of Ruby—a popular programming language for building web applications and writing back-end code. We'll cover how to navigate around your computer using the terminal, read and write files, and write your own command line applications. By the end of the day, you'll have built your very own program to post tweets and read timelines from Twitter.
Over the course of the weekend, you'll engage in many of the same activities that our students do during the week. You'll work with a pair. You'll have an opportunity to show off work that you're proud of. You'll receive helpful feedback on how to improve your code from our instructors. We'll even have a Q&A panel with current students and alumni so you can ask any and all questions that you have about the program.
If you complete the two-day course, you'll be welcome to skip the application and move immediately to the interview component of the admissions process. You'll also receive $500 off the cost of your tuition if you're accepted.

• We are offering scholarships on a limited basis for students with financial need. Please contact [masked] for more information.
Food and drinks will be served.
1. Do I need to bring a computer?
You will need a computer for this class. For this weekend, it does not matter what the operating system is as long as you are able to access the internet through a browser. However, if you do not have one, a limited number of loaner computers are available for the class. Contact [masked] for more info.
2. Where do I park?
Paid parking is available in the area. Lots run between $8 and $15 per day. Meters are free on Sundays.
3. I cannot attend both days. Can I attend for just one?
While attending both days will give you an idea of what each program covers, it is ok to attend just one day. Contact [masked] if this applies to you.
If you are looking for something shorter, you should attend Hello, Turing, a half-day info-session on Sunday. You can register here.
4. Is the space accessible?
Yes. There is an elevator to our space and all classrooms are accessible.
5. Is child care available?
YES! We will have certified childcare staff for both days who will be able to care for your child in a room right next door to where you are working. Children will be engaged in age-appropriate educational and fun activities. Please email [masked] with the number and ages of your children if you would like to bring your child(ren) with you.
