At Stitch Fix, like many tech companies, we like to test changes prior to rolling them out to all users. One of the central roles of data science at Stitch Fix is to design these experiments and analyze the results. This talk will bridge the gap between the theoretical experiment design that can appear seamless in textbooks to the many challenges and obstacles we run into in practice.

Short bio

Sonya has been working in data science for 3 years, first at Neustar Research, and now at Stitch Fix in the Algorithms Organization. She has a PhD in pure math from UC Davis where she developed algorithms for quantum computers, and then taught for 3 years at the college level prior to switching over the the tech industry. At Stitch Fix she focuses on building out a personalized experience for new site visitors to complement the extensive personalization that is at the heart of our business once a client signs up for their first Fix.
