UX Beers: Lockdown Edition 1

Details
The Slack community asked for a digital event this month, so we're trying a new format, and a new tool to help us. Join us on "Hop In" (https://hopin.to/events/ux-beers-lockdown-edition), an online platform meant to mimic full-scale conferences. We'll plan in some fun ways to meet members, and still enjoy the UX talks like normal.
We're sponsored by Ariad, and by Adobe XD, who is graciously supporting our digital platform, and offering a FREE year of Adobe Creative Cloud to one lucky attendee.
### UX TALK
"Failing in style: pitfalls of content style guide creation and how to avoid them"
A content style guide contains guidelines for text and visual content. There should be a definition of voice and tone, plus editorial guidelines. But don’t think this is for writers only: they also inform (motion) design and UX choices! I’ll tell (and show) you how.
A content style guide should align with the audience’s needs and with the image of the organization. Whether you work for a 5 or 50.000 person organization, you will need to work together with the right people, to know what the user needs, to find the right balance with what the organization wants, to document well, and to make sure the guidelines are adopted.
This talk will cover common pitfalls (real mistakes I’ve personally made and learned from) you might encounter in content style guide creation, management, and implementation. It will help you avoid them, and to create or improve your own style guide.

- Reception: find the schedule here, and links to the event areas that are currently live
- Stage: our main event stage for announcements and speakers
- Sessions: chat with fellow members in small groups (one of our volunteers will be in each session room)
- Networking: you'll be automatically matched with a random member for a short 2-minute chat.
- Expo: learn more about our sponsor Adobe XD, where to find their community events, and how to start using Creative Cloud.
