Linda Rising - Thinking Fast and Slow (45')
When Daniel Kahneman won the Nobel Prize for developing a new model of how the brain works, it changed how we think about thinking. If you haven't had time to read Kahneman's book "Thinking Fast and Slow," or even if you have, Linda will "translate" the model and what it means for us in working better. We know that our jobs involve thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making. We all want to do a better job of thinking fast and slow. Linda will help you get started with that.
Matt Lavoie - Designing Change for Products, Process, and Culture (30')
Change is hard. But in order to grow we must embrace change and try to get others to do so as well. For UX designers the most obvious needs for change we face may be overhauling or redesigning products without leaving our current users behind. Often the less obvious needs for change dwell more in shifting internal process or organisational mindsets so that we can be successful.
So why not apply a UX approach to design this change and set it up for success?
This talk will explore many of the hard lessons and strategies learned in undertaking introducing UX to a decade old enterprise product, team, and company.
Speakers:

Linda has a Ph.D. from Arizona State University in the field of object-based design metrics and a background that includes university teaching and industry work in telecommunications, avionics, and tactical weapons systems. He is now the Lead User Experience Designer at PowerDMS, a cloud based crucial content platform, and founder of the Downtown UX Meetup, a community of UX professionals and advocates in Orlando, Florida.
