Last week we explored a few easy ways to make our code run faster by running it in parallel. But, we actually skipped an important step: code optimization. It's always best to make sure your serial code is running efficiently.

In this meetup we will look at a few simple tools for profiling python code and for finding hot spots. This ties in with our discussion on speedup and efficiency, and is a great segue into speeding up Python by wrapping it with C and Fortran code. Thomas has said he will present this topic soon.
