June DevOps Meetup: Terraform (-ing Mars!)

Details
Hey Upstate DevOps Professionals!
It's almost June and time for a discussion around Terraform! This topic has been requested by a few folks and we're excited to talk about it! Also, moving up the time to 11:45 AM instead of 11:30.
[And no, I've not played the game (Terraforming Mars) yet. I have heard good things about it so if you've played it we'd all love to hear how it is!]
What is Terraform? It's an open-source project by HashiCorp that helps you automate and define IaC (Infrastructure as Code). Similar, yet different, from other tools that are out there - Ansible, Puppet, Chef, etc. It is powerful, easy-to-learn, and great to know as a DevOps professional.
If you're not familiar with Terraform then check out these links:
- https://github.com/hashicorp/terraform
- https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/167791/terraforming-mars - not related :)
We'll talk a little about what Terraform is and then show off some cool provisioning examples. If you are currently using Terraform in your environment and want to showcase your work or talk about it please let me know! I'd love to have more examples of real world use out there from our community.
Lunch is provided and the meeting is free to attend. All we ask is that you register here so we can get a better count of how much food to have prepared.
Here is the agenda for the meeting:
11:45 - 12:00 - Lunch, networking
12:00 - 12:45 - Terraform Demo
12:45 - 1:00 - Q/A and dismissal
So bring your questions, your ideas, and be prepared to learn something new!
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns please ping me on Meetup or start a discussion!
~Allen
ps. Feel free to share this to Twitter, LinkedIn, and your coworkers!
