Global Diversity CFP Day: How to Submit Presentation Proposals to Tech Events

Details

Come hang out with Maureen McElaney, Lisa Crispin, and Brie Hoblin and learn how to submit a CFP (call for papers) to a tech conference (or meetup)!

Are you a member of an underrepresented or marginalised group?
Have you dreamt about becoming a tech conference (or meetup) speaker? Your perspective is unique and important and we're here to help you share it with the world.

Let 2019 be the year that you make that dream a reality!

Save the date - Saturday 2nd March 2019 at 2PM

On Saturday 2nd March 2019 we will host the second edition of Global Diversity CFP Day following the success of the 2018 event where 53 workshops took place!

In 2019 there will be numerous workshops hosted around the globe encouraging and advising newbie speakers to put together your very first talk proposal and share your own individual perspective on any subject of interest to people in tech.

Each workshop will have experienced speakers on hand to:

  1. give you a warm, inclusive welcome in a safe space (check out our Code of Conduct (https://www.globaldiversitycfpday.com/code-of-conduct) which all participants must adhere to)
  2. mentor you with your proposal
  3. provide speaking advice
  4. and share their enthusiasm to get you to the stage!

Subject Matter
These workshops have no specific language, framework or process as a focus. Even if your talk isn’t even related to tech we want to hear from you too! In short, if there is something that you want to shout to the world we're here to help you get there regardless of the boundaries of technology or communities.

Experienced Speakers:

Maureen McElaney brings years of experience giving tech presentations to the table, and also coaches people on giving presentations professionally as part of her developer advocate job. Lisa Crispin is the author of two agile testing books, and has presented at tech conferences on testing around the world. Brie Hoblin runs a local meetup (btvtesters) and wants YOU to come speak for her group! She has also given presentations for many local meetups and conferences, and is often hired to educate others about software. Come join us as we share what we've learned from our own presentations.

Special Note: There are a few sets of stairs that lead into the VCET space. Please contact the host ahead of time if you need special needs access to the space. There is a private elevator in the back of the building but a key is needed to access it and arrangements will need to be made to have a host to get you in.

This event will abide by the Global Diversity CFP Day Code of Conduct. You can review it here: https://www.globaldiversitycfpday.com/code-of-conduct
