Join us for "Fun, Fitness, and Friendship".
The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club (officially the Vancouver 'Venturers Volkssport Club) is a friendly outdoor walking club. We have a lot of fun and are always keen to welcome newcomers. Our club was formed in 1997 and we have been on Meetup since 2018. We now have more than 450 full-fledged (annual dues-paying) members. We enjoy walks throughout the year, RAIN OR SHINE, all over Metro Vancouver and occasionally farther afield. If you are looking for something to do that's enjoyable, healthful, and non-competitive, you may well find that our club fits the bill.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. If you have not yet done so, and you would like to join us on our walks, please follow these instructions:

Please note: Although the number of attendees indicated for any event may appear low, be assured that you will be walking with many club members who have not RSVP’d. We rarely have fewer than 15 participants at any of our walks.
Our walks are round trip walks, which return to the start point. Almost all of our walks are easily accessible by transit and there is usually ample free parking at the start location, although that is not the case in and near downtown Vancouver, where pay parking is the norm. There's always a choice between a 10 km route and a shorter (usually 5 km) route. Walking at a moderate pace without interruption, most people can expect to complete a 10 km walk in about 2 hours and a 5 km walk in approximately 1 hour. This year we have 79 different routes and are hosting walks on 206 days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays). Very few walkers bring their dogs, but leashed well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks.
Our walks start at 10 am and typically attract between 20 and 40 participants. At every walk, upon arriving at the start point, you will be required to register (sign in) and pay a participation fee of $1.00. Our membership fees and walk fees cover our costs; we are strictly non-profit.
Immediately following a walk, some of us will go to a designated eatery nearby to enjoy a nice lunch and more conversation.

Route Description:
Come Walk With Us and explore Minoru Park (very nice park) and some quiet residential neighbourhoods on our way to the Middle Arm Dyke system that protects the city of Richmond. This part of the dyke pathway is amazing, looking over to the airport, watching planes leave and arrive, very often getting to see row boats, dragon boats or sculls in the Fraser River, walking past the Richmond Oval, and the UBC Boathouse which is a fully floating facility. Lots to see on this walk. This is one of 11 walks in our “Explore Richmond” series.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at one of the nearby lunch venues.

This walk goes along the southern part of the Arbutus Greenway, from near 41st Ave to SW Marine Drive, passing by community gardens, and through interesting residential areas. Catch views of planes approaching or taking off from Vancouver Airport.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

Route Description:
This walk goes through “villages” of Ambleside and Park Royal with interesting shops and eateries. Then walk north along the edge of the Capilano River, a salmon-spawning river, in West Vancouver crossing over to North Vancouver and continue along the river all the way up close to Upper Levels (Highway 1). Return to West Vancouver via an overpass close to the mouth of the river with panoramic views of English Bay and Vancouver. Enjoy more views along Ambleside Park/Beach all the way to Centennial Seawalk.Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. The walk will start at 10:00 am sharp.
