Vancouver Venturers Walking Club

Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You’d still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) Register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. The walk will start at 10:00 am sharp. Please be on time; we do not wait for latecomers.

Please note: Although the number of attendees indicated on this page may appear low, be assured that you will be walking with many club members who have not RSVP’d. We rarely have fewer than 15 participants at any of our walks.

Route Description:
A scenic walk through two municipalities, from Vancouver to Burnaby Heights with view of Vancouver downtown, the North Shore and Burrard Inlet. On the way back, pass a heritage building opened in 1914.

Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

NOTE: Once you have RSVP’d, Meetup will always show your status as “Unpaid”. This is not a cause for concern. The $1.00 participation fee for the walk is paid at the start point and to save us some work, we will not be recording on Meetup that you have paid it.

Route Description:
This walk will take us on forest trails in a few parks surrounded by creeks – Mahon Park, Mosquito Creek Park, Heywood Park and Lower MacKay Creek Park. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water, in particular the roaring creeks on rainy days! Return via Spirit Trail along the scenic waterfront with spectacular views of the water and city across the Burrard Inlet and beautiful float houses. Enjoy this walk which has a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. The 6 km route will only go to Mahon Park.

Central Park is notable for its immense douglas fir, western hemlock, cedar, poplar and maple groves. We'll enjoy a walk along the BC Parkway Urban Trail (beside the SkyTrain) and through Central Park before returning via residential streets.

Route Description:
Come and enjoy some outstanding Fraser River views as we walk the Ladner dyke all the way from Lions Park to Ladner Reach Marina. There is lots to see and plenty of history on this walk as we pass by the Historic Fisherman’s Hall (est. 1943) as well as a plaque honoring the founder of Ladner Village. Have you ever wondered what life is like in a floating home? Now is your chance to find out because we walk through the Ladner Reach Marina – home to 29 float homes with “to die for” views along with some quirky pieces of Expo 86 memorabilia! On a clear day, take in the river, wetland and mountain views – you won’t be disappointed!
