The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club (officially the Vancouver 'Venturers Volkssport Club) was formed in 1997 and we have been on Meetup since 2018. Our club now has more than 400 full-fledged (annual dues-paying) members. We have a lot of fun and are always keen to welcome newcomers. We enjoy outdoor walks throughout the year, RAIN OR SHINE, all over Metro Vancouver and occasionally farther afield. If you are looking for something to do that's healthful, non-competitive, and provides the opportunity to meet new people, you may well find that our club fits the bill.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You would still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) Our walks are round trip walks, which return to the start point. Almost all of our walks are easily accessible by transit and there is usually ample free parking at the start location, although that is not the case in and near downtown Vancouver, where pay parking is the norm. There's always a choice between a 10 km route and a shorter (usually 5 km) route. Walking at a moderate pace without interruption, most people can expect to complete a 10 km walk in about 2 hours and a 5 km walk in approximately 1 hour. This year we have 79 different routes and are hosting walks on 206 days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays). Very few walkers bring their dogs, but leashed well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks.
Our walks start at 10 am and typically attract between 20 and 40 participants. At every walk, upon arriving at the start point, you will be required to register (sign in) and pay a participation fee of $1.00. Our membership fees and walk fees cover our costs; we are strictly non-profit.
Immediately following a walk, some of us will go to a designated eatery nearby to enjoy a nice lunch and more conversation.

FAMILY DAY Walk in Ladner Parks

ROUTE DESCRIPTION:
We will take a perimeter route that borders the scenic Fraser River Estuary. As we exit the park, we'll proceed along Ferry Road to the South Arm Marshes where a little bit of unexpected magic will await us. This route also passes through Ernie Burnett Park and a rare gem of nature known only to locals so it has yet to be named. Truly, a “magical” walk!Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. The walk will start at 10:00 am sharp. Please be on time; we do not wait for latecomers.
Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members for lunch at the designated eatery nearby.

Walk in Vancouver - Shaughnessy - Arbutus Greenway (North)

BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT THE DOOR, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE WE'RE MEETING. We're NOT meeting in Indigo or Starbucks. We're meeting in the OPEN SPACE BEHIND Indigo/Starbucks. One way to access this open space is to walk down the covered passageway beside the Cactus Club (1530 W. Broadway) and then turning left.

If you like walking by the water on the dyke system, walking bridges, seeing a variety of bird life, watching airplanes take off and land — on water and land, walking on a boardwalk to see the mountains and walking someplace you have probably not walked before…then this is a walk you must do. Walk in West Vancouver - Ambleside - Capilano River - Pemberton Heights

Route Description:
This walk goes north passing Park Royal and then along the edge of the Capilano River, a salmon-spawning river. We will cross over from West Vancouver to North Vancouver. Just before Highway 1, we head up to Pemberton Heights. Return to West Vancouver via an overpass close to the mouth of the river with panoramic views of English Bay and Vancouver. Enjoy more views along Ambleside Park/Beach.
