The Vancouver Venturers Walking Club (officially the Vancouver 'Venturers Volkssport Club) was formed in 1997 and we have been on Meetup since 2018. Our club now has more than 400 full-fledged (annual dues-paying) members. We have a lot of fun and are always keen to welcome newcomers. We enjoy outdoor walks throughout the year, RAIN OR SHINE, all over Metro Vancouver and occasionally farther afield. If you are looking for something to do that's healthful, non-competitive, and provides the opportunity to meet new people, you may well find that our club fits the bill.
Our walks are restricted to club members who have paid $15 for a 12-month membership. However, if you would like to try one or two walks before committing yourself to a paid membership, you do have that option. (You would still need to pay $1.00 for each walk.) Our walks are round trip walks, which return to the start point. Almost all of our walks are easily accessible by transit and there is usually ample free parking at the start location, although that is not the case in and near downtown Vancouver, where pay parking is the norm. There's always a choice between a 10 km route and a shorter (usually 5 km) route. Walking at a moderate pace without interruption, most people can expect to complete a 10 km walk in about 2 hours and a 5 km walk in approximately 1 hour. This year we have 79 different routes and are hosting walks on 206 days (Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays, and some holidays). Very few walkers bring their dogs, but leashed well-behaved dogs are welcome on our walks.
Our walks start at 10 am and typically attract between 20 and 40 participants. At every walk, upon arriving at the start point, you will be required to register (sign in) and pay a participation fee of $1.00. Our membership fees and walk fees cover our costs; we are strictly non-profit.
Immediately following a walk, some of us will go to a designated eatery nearby to enjoy a nice lunch and more conversation.

We will also walk in some residential areas in the University Endowment Lands.Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. The walk will start at 10:00 am sharp. Please be on time; we do not wait for latecomers.
Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

Walk in Vancouver - Olympic Village - Cambie Bridge

BEFORE YOU HEAD OUT THE DOOR, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW EXACTLY WHERE WE'RE MEETING. We're meeting in the OPEN SPACE BEHIND Indigo/Starbucks. One way to access this open space is to walk down the covered passageway beside the Cactus Club (1530 W. Broadway) and then turning left.

Route Description:
Enjoy the panoramic scenery of Vancouver from different viewpoints. This 6km/10km walk takes you to Granville Island & along the Seaside Greenway to Olympic Village, Science World to Coopers’ Park, across Cambie Bridge & back to Granville Island. Check out what Granville Island has to offer as you walk around the Island. The 6K walk will only go to Charleson Park & Granville Island.Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am. The walk will start at 10:00 am sharp. A scenic walk through two municipalities, from Vancouver to Burnaby Heights with view of Vancouver downtown, the North Shore and Burrard Inlet. On the way back, pass a heritage building opened in 1914.Immediately following the walk, you may wish to join some of your fellow club members at the nearby lunch venue.

Route Description:
This walk will take us on forest trails in a few parks surrounded by creeks – Mahon Park, Mosquito Creek Park, Heywood Park and Lower MacKay Creek Park. Immerse yourself amongst the trees and the sound of water, in particular the roaring creeks on rainy days! Return via Spirit Trail along the scenic waterfront with spectacular views of the water and city across the Burrard Inlet and beautiful float houses. Enjoy this walk which has a mix of boardwalks, nature and urban trails. The 6 km route will only go to Mahon Park.Walkers will register (sign in) at the start point between 9:30 am and 9:55 am.
