It's time for our annual Winter Holiday Potluck (Christmahanukahkwanzaa) ;-) !!! We'll be celebrating a bunch of holidays at once (or just winter solstice, whatever you like--it's an excuse to party, right?). Bring a tasty vegan dish and optional white elephant gift anytime after 5:00 PM (details below). We're going to have an awesome vegan buffet with all your favorite veg*n friends. This is a really nice relaxed hang out kind of event... Enjoy a leisurely dinner with good company. Then hang out afterwards and talk, play board games, or what ever... You must RSVP to attend this potluck. To RSVP, use this site or contact us at info@vegkc.com. When you RSVP, remember to say what dish you're bringing in your RSVP comments. If you don't know exactly, try to put a category (e.g., pasta dish, dessert, etc.). Also, be sure to say how many guests you're bringing.

WHAT DO I BRING? 1) Yourself (of course). Family and friends welcome, too. Kid-friendly (Alcohol free environment). 2) Vegan food dish(es) with serving utensils (regular dishes and utensils will be provided): Bring a tasty main dish, side dish, or dessert. And bring the utensils needed to serve it. Everything must be vegan (no dairy, no eggs, no honey, no animal products of any kind). Any dish should be big enough to feed about 8 people, and you must bring one dish for every 1-2 guests (including yourself). We have some raw and gluten-free members, so if you feel comfortable with those types of recipes and would enjoy bringing them, please do so. If you think you've got a spectacular dish and you want everyone to have some, be ready to feed the number of people who RSVP'd yes. If you need ideas, check out: - VegWeb's Vegan Winter Holiday Recipes: http://vegweb.com - FatFreeVegan's Holiday Recipes: http://www.fatfreevegan.com/holiday/ 3) List of ingredients: Please bring each dish's recipe or ingredients list. We want to make sure that individuals with specific allergies or diets can choose what they eat based on the ingredients. You can bring multiple copies of each recipe to share with everyone, if inclined. 4) Although completely optional, we highly recommend you also bring the following items. - White elephant exchange gift: What's a winter holiday party without a gift exchange??? If you want to participate in our White Elephant Gift Exchange, bring a white elephant gift (something you already own [usually a household item] worth under $20 that you don't value and don't want anymore) and be sure to wrap it up. (recycled/recyclable wraps recommended). Hopefully we'll get quite an interesting variety! Last year nearly everyone participated in this and it was really exciting. Don't be left out of the fun! (Kids: Bring white elephant gifts, too!) - Donation: VegKC will be accepting donations (cash please!) to help pay for distributing educational literature, providing restaurant outreach, and group activities--all funded by volunteers and donations. Please help! - Musical instrument: Some of our members like to have a fun "jam" session at our holiday potlucks. So if you play a musical instrument and want to play with other musicians, bring your instrument!

WHEN DOES IT START? The festivities begin around 5:00 p.m., and we'll probably start eating at roughly 6:00 PM. Due to the nature of this special holiday meal, we ask that anyone arriving after 7:00PM bring dessert instead of a dinner dish.

WHERE IS IT AND HOW DO I GET THERE? The potluck is at Michael Jay's place, near the I-70 and 7 Hwy area, and has room for a fair party. Let Michael Jay know if you need directions and maps (you can contact them through the meetup site).

WHAT IF I'M STILL CONFUSED OR I HAVE QUESTIONS? If you're new, don't worry--lots of other people will be too. You'll make friends easily, we promise! If you have any questions, contact us: info at vegkansascity dot com. We can't wait to see everyone!

Please - if you decide to come to this event, RSVP and make the commitment to show up! We understand that life happens, and if you absolutely can't make it, or if you were a maybe - please update your RSVP (specify a dish while you're at it). This makes it possible for us to make preparations, and is helpful to those thinking about coming.
