2013 Walk for Farm Animals

Details
The Walk for Farm Animals is taking place in Austin Saturday, October 26th at 10:00am at Pease Park. The event raises funds for Farm Sanctuary, the country's largest sanctuary for rescued farm animals, in New York. The goal is to raise $5000 locally.
They're very close (74%) to raising their goal, so we'd like to help them reach it. Please consider signing up to walk that morning, and ask your friends and relatives to contribute so we can raise money for Farm Sanctuary. And if you're unable to attend at all, you can still sign up using the "sleep in" option.
The Walk will begin with welcoming remarks, and then the group will take off! When the walking is complete, everyone is invited to enjoy the festivities. There will be a speaker, live music, vegan food, and raffle prizes. Also, each member of the most fundraising team, who also raised at least $100 on their own, will receive a “Compassion for All!” aluminum water bottle.
There is a team set up on the Walk for Farm Animals website that the Progressive Vegetarians are participating in. To join it, just go to this link:
https://events.walkforfarmanimals.org/index.cfm?fuseaction=register.start&eventID=604&teamID=6722
...and when you see the option for "Role", choose "Join a Team" and then choose "VegaTexians" from the pull-down menu. It only costs $15 to register yourself as a walker or donor.
If you'd like to help out even more, Cindy Daugherty, the event organizer, still needs some volunteer assistance. She has given us a list of what jobs she needs help with that morning:
-Setting up (2 people needed/Cindy will be at Pease Park around 8:30 a.m. setting up/check in starts at 10 a.m.)
-Registration Table (2 people needed)
-Raffle Table (1 person needed)
-Walk Route (2 people needed-1 in front and 1 in the back to go on walk and make sure everyone turns around at 29th Street)
-Clean up After the Walk
Optional items:
-animal costumes (cow, sheep, chicken etc.) we could borrow walk day to entertain the walkers.
-If anyone would like to bring decorative pumpkins/squash/corn for decorations that would be great.
If you're available to help out on Saturday at any of the times shown above, or for any of the jobs needed, please email Cindy at cdaug65@gmail.com.
