Holiday Potluck and "White Elephant" Party

Come join us for the annual VNA Holiday potluck! Come enjoy some great, festive vegan food, along with old and new vegetarian friends and camaraderie. We also will have our famous White Elephant gift exchange! Bring a simple wrapped gift for the exhange, and as for food, please bring a VEGAN dish to feed 8 plus a serving utensil, as well as your own plate, utensils, and beverage. Also please bring a list of ingredients for your recipe.

For those of you who aren't familiar, we're having a "White Elephant" is a kind of gift exchange game, where you bring an item or gift to contribute. The White Elephant Gift exchange works this way: Each guest contributes one gift to the game, and ultimately each guest walks away with one different gift from the game. The theme for the gifts is recycling, some possibilities would be something you were given before and are now "regifting", or something you used to use but now could get more use from someone else, etc.

All gifts should be wrapped, but not labeled to reflect the sender or a recipient. Everyone will draw a number to determine the order of gift choosing. The person who drew #1 chooses a gift from the pile, and then shows it to everyone. Then it's Person #2's turn. They can either steal an item previously unwrapped or open a new gift from the pile. If a person's gift is stolen, that person can immediately unwrap a new gift or steal another person's gift. This process repeats until a gift has been stolen 3 times, or until a person chooses to unwrap a new gift (as opposed to stealing a gift), at which point play proceeds to the next person. Owners of opened gifts must keep them visible for all to see and hold them up when requested.
