What we’re about
Vegan-Powered is about living life in harmony with people, animals & the planet. We are open to everyone on the vegan path & the vegan-curious. We embrace & seek to maximize our diversity.
Active vegans and vegan athletes (& coach potatoes!) of all activity and experience levels are welcome to our informal social network! Lets support each other with whatever goals we have from anyone just starting a fitness routine to the most experienced. We're here for you!
Yearly we have a VP (Vegan-Powered) team for the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary 5k (& 1 miler) in Wheaton, MD. Please join us or donate to our team!
You can also connect with us on Strava or Facebook.
If you have a suggested meetup or want to organize a meetup please dm me through Meetup or directly at thebootcampgirl@gmail.com.
Meetup is free for members but Meetup charges dues to organizers (that have continually increased). You can donate to help offset costs to keep the group going by clicking on the donation link below. You contribution is greatly appreciated!

Hatton Animal Rescue, 13885 Kennard Dr., Glenelg, MD, US*Please note that the start time is 10AM for this volunteer event.* Although arriving late is Ok. Please join us for as much time as you can.
Hatton Animal Rescue Foundation specializes in special needs farmed-animals. They're located in Glenelg, Md (its in Howard Co about 10 minutes from Great Sage).
"We Rescue All types of animals with special needs/disabilities and Seniors in the hopes that they will one day be adopted into a loving home. If one cannot be found, we provide the comfort, care and forever home they need."
Volunteer tasks can get dirty! Please dress for dirty work. I recommend wearing boots, bringing gloves, hat and sun protection. Tasks may require mobility or strength but there are many tasks that don't. The specific tasks will based on the # of volunteers who sign up.
Hatton Animal Rescue is located in a home in a residential neighborhood. Carpooling is highly encouraged to reduce the number of cars in the driveway & in the neighborhood (& also to reduce our overall carbon footprint). Please note if you would like to carpool & where you're coming from. If you can meet at the park and ride on Brokenland Pkwy in Columbia, please mention that since it's probably on the way for many people.
Please park in the grass on the left side of the driveway or on Kennard Drive.
Please print out and complete the liability waiver. By participating, you understand that there are inherent risks with volunteer work.

•OnlineSpecial Virtual Documentary Night: Big Max
OnlineYOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THE EVENT
Link to the film is in the info below.
For this Special Virtual Documentary Night, in honor of Veganuary, we are meeting to talk about the documentary, Big Max. A morbidly obese individual, Max, decides to change his lifestyle for a month and try going vegan. Health is irrelevant, weight is not the issue. Max decides to change to spite his vegan friend and prove he can change for 30 days without failing. Director Justin Russell will be joining us for a special guest Q&A!
>>Click here to watch Big Max for free<<
Again, you must watch the film on your BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then close out the night with a special guest Q&A! The Zoom information is listed below.
Meeting ID: 875 5525 6659
Passcode: 861888
This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.
This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.
Thank you and hope to see you there!

•OnlineSpecial Virtual Documentary Night: Sled Dogs
OnlineYOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THE EVENT
Link to the film is in the info below.
For this Special Virtual Documentary Night, in honor of Veganuary, we are meeting to talk about the documentary, Sled Dogs. This eye opening documentary offers an inside look at the dog sledding industry, from the tourist attractions to the annual Iditarod race. By weaving together various narratives we explore the truth about this industry while posing the question: "Is this the way 'man's best friend' should be treated?" Director Fern Levitt will be joining us for a special guest Q&A!
