Special Virtual Documentary Night: Milked

Online event

Link to the film is in the info below.

This Virtual Documentary Night is in collaboration Plant Based Emory (PBE) and Plant Powered Metro New York (PPMNY). PBE is a student-led organization at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. They act as a support for anyone who is vegan, vegetarian, or interested in learning more about the lifestyle. They work to educate the Emory community on where their food comes from, as well as how animals are treated for clothing, entertainment, and lab experiments. PPMNY is a non-profit organization located in New York. They empower people to find better health and overcome chronic disease through whole food, plant-based nutrition. They offer evidence-based education, resources, and support to create community and inspire change throughout the New York metropolitan area.

We are meeting in honor of Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month to talk about the documentary, Milked. Māori activist Chris Huriwai goes deep into dairy land and takes on the giants of New Zealand’s most powerful industry, revealing how the sacred cash-cow industry has been milked dry. His journey exposes not only the sustainability crisis and the dangerous denial of impending agricultural disruption, but also what New Zealand and other countries can do to change their fate. Chris Huriwai will also be joining us for a special guest Q&A! Here is a link to where you can watch it for free. https://youtu.be/MCwpsMtmMhM
Again, you must watch the film on your before the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then close out the night with the special guest Q&A! The Zoom information is listed below.

Meeting ID:[masked]

This event is hosted with multiple meetup groups, including the Atlanta Social Friends, Austin Documentary Fans, Atlanta Volunteer Meetup, the Ethical Humanists of Atlanta, Sunday Assembly Atlanta, and the Vegan Social Club. Therefore those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is in order to provide an opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.

This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. You can check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.

Thank you and hope to see you there!
