About us

Vegan-Powered is about living life in harmony with people, animals & the planet. We are open to everyone on the vegan path & the vegan-curious. We embrace & seek to maximize our diversity.

Active vegans and vegan athletes (& coach potatoes!) of all activity and experience levels are welcome to our informal social network! Lets support each other with whatever goals we have from anyone just starting a fitness routine to the most experienced. We're here for you!

Yearly we have a VP (Vegan-Powered) team for the Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary 5k (& 1 miler) in Wheaton, MD. Please join us or donate to our team!

You can also connect with us on Strava or Facebook.

If you have a suggested meetup or want to organize a meetup please dm me through Meetup or directly at thebootcampgirl@gmail.com.

Meetup is free for members but Meetup charges dues to organizers (that have continually increased). You can donate to help offset costs to keep the group going by clicking on the donation link below. You contribution is greatly appreciated!

YOU MUST WATCH THE FILM ON YOUR OWN BEFORE THE EVENT

Link to the film is in the info below.

For this Special Virtual Documentary Night, in honor of Earth Month, we are meeting to talk about the documentary, Common Enemy. Oklahoma has a growing factory farming problem. The state leads the nation in foreign-owned agricultural land, and the death of the small family farm is a theme that lingers throughout the heartland. Corporate animal agriculture is taking over the state, destroying the land, and making life for animals hell on earth. The citizens, the environment, and the animals in Oklahoma have a common enemy—factory farming. Adam Peditto (Director), Jason and Jennie Hays (Founders of Oliver and Friends Rescue Farm and Sanctuary), Pamela Kingfisher (Organizer, Director of Green Country Guardians), and Ed Brocksmith (Co-Founder of Save The Illinois River, Inc.) will be joining us for a special guest Q&A!

    >>Click here to watch Common Enemy for free<<

Again, you must watch the film on your BEFORE the event. We will be meeting over Zoom, where we will break out into small discussion groups. We will do multiple rounds of small group discussion, then close out the night with a special guest Q&A! The Zoom information is listed below.

    https://zoom.us/j/87555256659

    Meeting ID: 875 5525 6659

    Passcode: 861888

This event is posted in multiple meetup groups, and on Eventbrite, as well as with members of the Community Documentary Night email list. (Message me if interested in joining the email list) Therefore, THIS RSVP LIST IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL BE ATTENDING THE EVENT. So even if you only see one person RSVPed in this meetup group, there will always be others in attendance from other groups. We tend to have at least 20 on average. By inviting numerous groups that increases the likelihood that those in attendance will be from varying backgrounds and beliefs. This is done purposefully to provide everyone with the opportunity to hear a wide range of perspectives.

This event is open to all who are open to all. The one thing we ask is that people allow others to get their full thought out and that any disagreement is voiced in a civil way. Check out the Community Documentary Night website for more info or links to previously shown documentaries.

Thank you and hope to see you there!
