Ventura County Strategy Boardgamers is the place for people who like strategy boardgames to come together and play.
We have a mixture of long and short game for all skill levels, beginners are welcome. Games are always being taught so there is no need to feel shy about not knowing the games.
What should you bring? Just bring yourself and friends, you can RSVP for yourself and guests.
The cost for the day will be $10 a head for the 'Full Monty' of burgers, snacks and drinks. See Food and Drinks below for more details.
If you want you can bring along games for yourself and others to play; we are always interested in new games or old classics;
Interested in playing a specific game? Mention that in the comments for the specific meetup and someone may have or know the game.
Times
The start time may be flexible depending on need; 9am seems like an early enough start.
The end time is to allow clean up etc by midnight (or later)
Location and Parking
In the Clubhouse of a gated community in Camarillo Springs:
Directions: Take the 101 towards Camarillo, exit at Camarillo Springs. Proceed along Camarillo Springs Rd. At first 4-way-stop turn left onto Adohr Lane. Go through the Gate. Take next left onto Via Montanez. Clubhouse is ahead on the right.

There are guest parking spaces by the clubhouse and on adjacent streets, try to car pool if possible.
Food and Drinks
Water, soda and snacks will be available in the kitchen area.
A donation of $5 per person/cylon is requested to cover the cost of soda, water and the snacks in the kitchen area. A tin for the donations will be provided for that purpose.
Alcohol is allowed in the Clubhouse. BYO and be sensible.
For real food: Dominoes Pizza will deliver to the gate, Both veggie and gluten-free requirements can be accommodated. Those who partake in the pizza are expected to share the cost of the pizza and a tip for the delivery person.
The overwhelming response of the poll was for the grilled food so we will lay on burgers, hot-dogs, beans and salad, Sudro has volunteered to grill and also thanks to Gen for organizing things.
This food does not come free and we estimate the cost of the burgers, hot-dogs & salad to be $5 per person for those who partake.
So for $10 a head you get a full day of gaming with snacks, burgers and drinks; what a bargain ! Any money left over will go towards the meetup group costs.
Tables and chairs
The clubhouse has some tables and chairs, but not enough to 30 people. As we get closer to the date please let Tim know if you can bring tables and or chairs.
Clothing
The clubhouse room can get noisy with lots of gamers when the doors and windows are shut; please bring a sweater, fleece or jacket etc so we can leave some of the doors and windows open, weather permitting.
Celebrate
We have cause to celebrate a few milestones in this meetup groups history: namely this will be the groups 299th meetup and my own 200th attendance. So to commemorate the occasion there will be a free raffle in the evening where I will give away some games as prizes. This is my opportunity to say thanks to all those who have made this group such a success.

Games being planned include:
Battlestar Galactica lots of people probably (max 6/7 per game)
Arkham Horror : Jon W, Eliz, Josh + ?
A Game of Thrones : Sudro, Gen, Tim, Laurel, Steveo + ? (max 6 per game)
Later in the day we expect to play lighter party type games and hold the free raffle.
