This group is dedicated to creating and maintaining trails in the Town of Victor, NY. These trails are open to the public - check out http://victorhikingtrails.org/vhtmap.php . Additionally, the group leads hikes that anyone may attend. Want to build a bridge, construct a boardwalk or chase down invasive species? These activities and much more will also be posted here as well as on the VHT calendar - http://victorhikingtrails.org/vhtcal.php . Join us and explore the outdoors with a group dedicated to getting ourselves and others in touch with nature on many levels.
While early in the season we will probably be mowing along with pick up sticks, trash as well as make sure hikers and bikers can find their way using the VHT signs and blazing. VHT has gloves, eye protection, etc. and tools, however, feel free to bring your own. After the session we will stop at a local purveyor of food and/or drink for socializing.
There is a lot of work to do on this section of the trail. We probably will not deal with the beaver flooding, however, there are several repairs that are needed as depicted in the picture above as well as on the boardwalk going past the old abandoned house. If we get a big enough crew we will replace several boards in the boardwalk as well as repair the bridge.
VHT will have gloves, eye/hearing protection as well as the tools needed, however, feel free to bring your own. After the session we will stop at a local place for conversation and refreshments.
Ethan Davis finished a 72 foot boardwalk Saturday, 5/18 and almost completed the restoration of a bridge Sunday, 5/19. We will be back to finish the bridge work during this session. This work is being done in cooperation with VHT and even if you cannot attend you can make a donation via the Victor Hiking Trails website at https://victorhikingtrails.org/vhtform.php
Come for an hour or all day. Tools, gloves, etc. will be provided, however, feel free to bring you own. As usual for Eagle projects there will be food and refreshments for those who come to work.
Rain Day will be Sunday, May 26 if needed.
