Needs a date and time

Community Music Center

Click on the titles of the classes for information. I'm also happy to answer your questions.

Anything Goes Chorus I (http://sfcmc.org/adults/group-classes-and-ensembles/vocal/#anything-chorus-1)

A fun and supportive environment for learning basic vocal and breathing technique, how to support your tone, beginning note reading skills and simple two and three part harmony. This beginning singing class is designed for singers with little to no experience. It is focused on group singing, but also incorporates some individual singing.

Anything Goes Chorus II (http://sfcmc.org/adults/group-classes-and-ensembles/vocal/#anything-chorus-2)

This is a chorus for vocalists who love to harmonize in a wide variety of musical styles and enjoy interacting with other singers through rhythmic movement and choreography. Continue to develop your vocal technique and music reading skills. A performance is scheduled at a retirement home, assisted living facility or homeless shelter at the end of Fall and Spring quarters. An annual Spring concert takes place every year in March in combination with the East Bay Anything Goes Chorus.

Coro de Cámara (http://sfcmc.org/adults/group-classes-and-ensembles/vocal/#coro-camara) – New!

A chamber choir that sings the music of Spain and Latin America. Sing beautiful baroque, classical and folk music from Latin America and Spain in a small choir setting. Learn how to sing in Spanish, Latin and several dialects from the Americas in different styles ranging from the 13th century to modern folk styles.

Latin Vocal Workshop (http://sfcmc.org/adults/group-classes-and-ensembles/vocal/#latin)

Develop your vocal performance skills and build a song repertoire from various Spanish-speaking countries. Students will work on soloing and harmonizing in a group. There will be quarterly recitals and other performance opportunities all year.

Older Adult Choirs (http://sfcmc.org/adults/older-adult-choir-program/)

Community Music Center offers our Older Adult Choir program in partnership with 12 Department of Aging and Adult Services senior centers across San Francisco.

Singing Rounds and Canons (http://sfcmc.org/adults/group-classes-and-ensembles/vocal/#rounds-canon)

Singing rounds and canons is an easy way to get started singing in a group. Think “the whole is far greater than the sum of its parts.” Learn to sing a simple melody along with the rest of the group. Space out your entrances and the simple tune will turn into a complex harmonic wonder. Learn simple rounds (such as “Row, Row, Row Your
Boat”) and complex rounds by great composers.

Vocal Harmony Workshop (http://sfcmc.org/adults/group-classes-and-ensembles/vocal/#vocal-harmony)

We are all capable of singing and harmonizing together! Learn basic singing techniques and how to harmonize with others. The Vocal Harmony Workshop will focus on acapella and barbershop singing, gospel, R&B, styles for group vocal development. This class is meant to inspire beginners, develop their musical ear, to discover their natural-born vocal abilities, and to encourage more experienced singers to continue developing theirs.
