Can you see yourself spending a few hours a week for a year or more, as a mentor and volunteer advocate for a child in foster care? If so, come to this information session, led by my colleague Jerry Fontanares, to find out more.

This is not a casual volunteer gig. Advocates must submit to screening, attend 30 hours of training and commit for at least a year. In return you get to have a significant relationship with, and positive impact on, a vulnerable child in our community.

Child Advocates ( is the only nonprofit organization appointed by the Santa Clara County dependency court to represent the needs of abused and neglected children. We are one of the largest affiliates of the National Court Appointed Special Advocates program (CASA). The organization has served thousands of children since its founding in 1986.

Our mission is to provide stability and hope to abused and neglected children by being a powerful voice in their lives. There are over 150 children in our local foster care systems waiting for an Advocate.

If you cannot attend this session, there will be others. They are all published on our web site, at

Also - please note that we will hold the session even if there are no RSVPs here, as we also advertise on CraigsList.
