What we're about

Family Wellness Group was created by a group of friends in 2014 to bring together positive people to share, network, and achieve collective and individual health and fitness goals. We do this through hiking the amazing parks and trails around the San Francisco Bay Area. We are a multi-cultural/multi-ethnic group who's purpose is to encourage everyone (especially African-American and people of color) to get out into the natural world. Science proves that it improves physical and mental well-being!

We also organize other fitness activities and sponsor events that support the community. We would be honored for you to be a part of the Hiking Family.

All fitness levels are welcome, but be sure to keep in mind your fitness level and the difficulty of the hike.
You can find us on Facebook too!

FWG Hikes Angel island

Needs a location

***Please Read Everything*** This week we are back at Angel Island for a 5.5 mile moderate Hike. The weather is supposed to be nice. Angel Island is the largest island in area of the San Francisco Bay. The island is so large that on a clear day, Sonoma and Napa can be seen from the north side of the island;San Jose can be seen from the south side of the island. The highest point on the island, almost exactly at its center, is Mount Caroline Livermore at a height of 788 feet (240 m). The island is almost entirely in Marin County, California, although, there is a small sliver (0.7%) at the eastern end of it (Fort McDowell) which extends into the territory of the City and County of San Francisco. The Ferry leaves at 10am sharp please arrive early, that is why I put a 9:30 start time to give you time to park and walk over. If you miss the 10am ferry, the next one is 11am. FUN and family friendly hike + ferry ride on historic Angel Island!! **Directions** From Oakland: https://goo.gl/maps/bVnpow7CMGF2 From San Francisco: https://goo.gl/maps/111RMsR9zEy From Richmond: https://goo.gl/maps/mCse7EJ7ArP2 From Walnut Creek: https://goo.gl/maps/GZCv5v7a8tn From Hayward: https://goo.gl/maps/Jc48SWKDpPv By Ferry from Oakland: http://sanfranciscobayferry.com/route/oakland/pier41 What are the fees: Ferry fees - Adults (ages 13 and over) $15.00 Children (ages 6 - 12) $13.00 Small Children (ages 3 - 5) $3.50 Toddlers (ages 2 and under) Free* Parking Fee - $5.oo http://angelislandferry.com/parking-information/ What food to bring: Bring a brown bag lunch and plenty of water.
