Grading Your Website

Grading Your Website

Details

For August, the West End Meetup was having Users Choice and Presentation Nite but the guest presenter had to cancel. So a question which constantly gets asked is our topic - How do you measure and grade a website?

Actually we do this all the time and very fast. Kissmetrics estimates that it takes us less than 10 seconds to decide if we want to visit a new website we have just landed on - To Bounce or To Continue. And Web designers know the critical factors - Speed, Content, Speed, Safe-space, Speed, SEO Appeal, Speed, Mobile Responsive.

Okay I have put extra-emphasis on Website Speed, but maybe not enough acording to Google and Kissmetrics. But the first order of the Measurement Business is to know thyself. Specifically => how many visitors are coming to your website, what pages are they visiting and how long are they hanging around. So we will look at one of the easiest, free plugins for doing so.

The next part of the presentation will look at the free online tool, Website.Grader.com. It is not the most comprehensive nor detailed. But it covers the keys issues in the right order: Speed, Mobile, SEO and Security to provide the big picture on a website's state of health.

After the Visual Taste Test, this is a tool I use to get a very good feel for the operational grade for a website. After perusing a WebSite.Grader score and recommendations, I know immediately where to go to work on the website. So as a closing appetizer we will dare the attendees to let us take the Website.Grader temperature of their website.
