What we're about

We are Wake Up Cork – a community of young people (18 to 35-ish) who practice mindfulness inspired by the teachings of Zen master, poet and peace activist Thich Nhat Hanh. We come together to practice mindfulness in order to take care of ourselves, nourish happiness, and contribute to building a healthier and a more compassionate society.

While Wake Up Cork draws its inspiration from the Zen Buddhist teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh, our community is focused on practice and not on beliefs or ideology. We are open to all who hold an aspiration to transform themselves and contribute to a more healthy and compassionate society. We honour the unique roots of every individual and you can join as a Buddhist, Christian, Hindu, Jew, or Muslim as well as an agnostic, atheist or member of any other religious or spiritual grouping.

Join us for our gathering of mindfulness & meditation, Sunday, 6.30- 8.00p.m.

Join us for our gathering of mindfulness & meditation this Sunday from 6.30 - 8.00 p.m. Each gathering tends to follow this structure: The first part of the meeting is dedicated to mindful practice, generally inspired by Thich Nhat Hanh teachings amongst others, guided and silent sitting meditation, listening to Dharma talks, and reading the 5 Mindfulness Trainings. In the second part we practice Dharma sharing. This may include readings and videos that members of the group find inspirational for their mindfulness practice as well as sharing of experiences and questions around mindfulness in our daily lives. This gives the last section of the meet-up a special flavour of openness and acceptance. We will share a relaxing tea after the dharma sharing.
