Wakefield Pickleball COVID Guidelines
For the outdoor courts at the Wakefield Recreational Association rink

Stay at home if you have any covid symptoms or have been around anyone with covid or you have been traveling within the last 2 weeks.

Prepared by: Irene Richardson June 15, 2020.
Please abide by these guidelines to help keep others and yourself healthy during COVID19. Thanks for your cooperation and ongoing support. If you have questions email or call Irene irene@npwalking.com , 819-459-3284 , or 613-850-8502

At the Pickleball Outdoor Court:
• As of June 8 – you can play as a team – partners should keep 2 meters apart. No contact.
• Consider playing with only family members or others who reside in your household or bubble.
• We have 3 courts, 4 people per court to a maximum of 8 people per court.

• Singles (2 people per court) involves more running than doubles, if you are exhausted – stop playing. It is only a game!

Do NOT run backwards, the cement is harder than your head!
• Play Pickleball in the morning when it is cooler and allow the children to have the rink for skateboarding in the afternoon. If there are conflicts, we will schedule play time with the Wakefield Recreational Association and at https://www.meetup.com/wakefieldpickleball/. (https://www.meetup.com/wakefieldpickleball/)
• There are hand sanitizer and disinfectant bottles available in the pickleball box, please bring your own when possible or let Irene know if the bottles are empty.
• Wear sunglasses or eyewear to protect your eyes.
• Wear a hat and sunscreen and bring water.
• Warming up and cool-down stretches will help your game and body.
• The public washrooms are not open. There is a portable potty at the children’s playground.
• Note: In the near future I will be asking everyone to sign a wavier and to be a yearly member of the Centre Wakefield La Pêche to help cover the cost of the balls and hand sanitizers for outdoor play.

• Assume the other players are potential carriers of the coronavirus at all times.
• Wash your hands with soap and water before coming and bring personal use hand sanitizer.
• Wipe hands with sanitizer before and immediately after playing each game.
• Wipe balls before and after games with disinfectant.
• Clean and wipe down your paddles and water bottles.
• Do not share paddles or any other equipment or clothing.
• Avoid contact with others, such as hand shaking and high fives.
• Bring a full personal use water bottle(s). There are no public water fountains.
• The public washrooms are not open in the centre. There is a portable potty at the children’s playground.
• Bring tissues or a handkerchief for contained sneezing and coughing or consider wearing a mask.
• Adhere to guidelines by not touching your face (after handling a ball or paddle).

Do Not Play:
• If you are exhibiting any symptoms of the coronavirus: mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, coughing, difficulty breathing, or other symptoms identified by the CDC.
• Have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 in the last 21 days.
• If you are a vulnerable individual with serious underlying health conditions, including high blood pressure, chronic lung disease, diabetes, obesity, asthma, or whose immune system is compromised such as by chemotherapy for cancer and other conditions requiring such therapy.
