SOHA Sunday-Chanting for Star Goddesses-TARA

Details

Tara is a Bodhisattva, Mother Goddess, and Tantric Deity who is known to spontaneously appear to those who call out to her in times of dire need. Known as The Mother of All Buddhas, the name “Tara” means “Star,” although it is often/also translated as “Savioress,” or, “She Who Leads Across.” As a Bodhisattva who vowed to return to serve others only in the form of a woman, Tara is unique among those who have dedicated themselves to the transformation of cycles of samsara. Devotees meditate on Tara in her many-colored manifestations (often cited as the 21 aspects of Tara), in order to invite the power and presence of this Goddess into their hearts and minds.

Please join us as we use both drum and sacred chanting to invoke our own unique experiences of Tara through image and sound. No prior experience is necessary, and you needn’t make sound with your own voice in order to participate if you prefer to silently listen. All genders are welcome.

Your host and guide is Soha Al-Jurf. Pythia...Medium...Translator of/for/to the Goddess

Donation is sliding scale $8-$20 depending on income.
