The Raleigh-Durham Web Design Group April Meetup

  • This location is shown only to members

W3C WebApps and SVG team contact Doug Schepers has kindly offered to share his insights into HTML5 at the April meetup. We've just had two lunchtime meetups on this topic and it seems many people haven't yet had time to study up on this and you may not be aware what is happening here:

For example, html 5 is in and xhtml 2 is out?

So we are providing a list of links to articles about html5 and we would like to encourage you to go read them and come with your opinions, pros, cons and share your thoughts.

Well that's a good start . . . have fun then let's come talk about what we like and how it will impact what we do.

See you then!
Pepper and Mitch

Security topic is tentatively planned for a joint meeting in May with the local OWASP chapter.

Please consider the benefits of moderating, presenting lecture style, or giving a tutorial:

It was too bad that the guest speaker wasn't able to attend for the HTML5 topic. Hopefully we can have this hot topic readdressed at some point in the near future. That said, Mitch, Pepper and some other developers were able to have some lively and interesting discussions on HTML5. I learned something about it, and look forward to more!

Despite the participation of the audience, it was not quite what I had hoped for. A lot of people were excited, but apparently over the week-end they forgot about the meeting. I was worried about 35 people showing up, but we only got about 15... and among the missing was the speaker! So I'll need to do a better job next time of reminding people about the meeting. Perhaps a reminder the day before will help.

A Web Designers told me today he had never heard of HTML5!
Let's read up a little before the meeting, and bring your favorite demos and astute observations about how HTML5 will impact you! Here's one link:
