Felsman Loop This Sunday!

Needs a location

This Sunday 1:30pm. Felsman Loop is a moderate 2.4 mile hike. Ticks and poison oak are a thing.
Since it's so short we will be walking at a decent pace.

Please wear sturdy hiking boots/shoes and sun protection. Bring water and snacks.

I'll be wearing my purple hiking backpack and pink hat. Well meet at the Patricia St trailhead (same start as Bishop's Peak).

Discovery Loop Hike at Pismo Preserve

Needs a location

Hello hikers. Join us on Saturday, July 9, for our regular Second Saturday Pismo Preserve hike. This time we’ll take the Discovery Trail loop, a popular trail gives us sweeping views of the ocean and takes us back into the hills. We’ll take a few breaks along the way, but plan to make this a vigorous hike.

Meet at parking area trailhead near the restrooms and picnic tables at 8:50 am. Bring water, a snack for the trail, and sturdy shoes as there is often loose gravel on the trails.

Essentials

  • Where: Pismo Preserve trailhead by the restrooms (see map)
  • When: 7:50am, Saturday July 9
  • Duration: 2–3 hours
  • Distance: ~5.5 miles, about 550’ elevation gain
  • Maps: Official PDF and Hiking Project
  • Bring: Sturdy shoes, sun protection, water, snack, sense of fun and camaraderie

Challenging Hike Through Reservoir Canyon

Needs a location

Hello hikers! Join us as we hike to the ridge above Reservoir Canyon and back. Our route will follow the switchbacks of Bowden Ranch Trail (north side of the ridge) to the eponymous Reservoir Canyon Trail, and back along the creek.

While the ridge-top views are worth the effort, this steep, difficult hike is not recommended for the faint of heart or hiking shoe. Water and sun protection are required for this hike; I recommend bringing at least two liters of water.

Essentials

  • When: 7:50am, Sunday, July 24
  • Where: Reservoir Canyon Trailhead parking area
  • Duration: 3 hours
  • Distance: 5.5 miles, about 1040’ elevation gain
  • Map: AllTrails
  • Bring: Sturdy shoes, water, sunscreen, and determination.
  • Also consider: Tall socks, long pants, or a keen eye for dodging poison oak.
