What we’re about
This meetup is for people who are interested in conservation of wild public lands, hiking, and volunteer projects such as restoration.
Wild Connections protects and restores wild nature and public lands across the watersheds of the Arkansas and South Platte Rivers in central Colorado. We recognize these as the ancestral lands of the Ute, Cheyenne, Arapaho and other indigenous peoples.
Connecting Wildernesses and roadless areas in a landscape-wide wildlands network across the central Rockies benefits migratory animals, rare plant communities, clean water resources for urban and mountain communities , local economies, quiet recreation, historic and cultural locations, scenic vistas and spiritual values.

We are excited to announce and invite you to Wild Connections 30th Anniversary Event!
Join us for a momentous celebration honoring Wild Connections' three decades of conservation excellence across central Colorado's Arkansas and South Platte River watersheds.
The evening will feature light hors d'oeuvres and beverages in a setting that celebrates the natural beauty we've worked together to protect.
We are honored to welcome acclaimed environmental journalist Ben Goldfarb as our keynote speaker. Goldfarb has established himself as a leading voice in conservation through his award-winning works and books such as Eager and Crossings.
Don't miss this chance to reflect on our shared accomplishments and recommit to the vital work of protecting Colorado's wild places for future generations.
The event will be at the Fountain Creek Nature Center, just south of Colorado Springs.
An optional hike is available at 1 PM (to 3 PM), leading up the the event.

- Volunteer Seeding Restoration Project at the FS Puma Hills Roadless AreaNeeds location
Note, this project is posted on multiple forums so you must contact the project leader, John, directly by phone or e-mail to register.
We are excited to partner once again with the Forest Service South Park Ranger District!
This project is located just a few minutes north of the Elevenmile Canyon Reservoir, and about a half of a mile north of last year's Puma Hills Roadless Area seeding restoration project, where we successfully closed about two and a half miles of illegal routes into the 8,800 acre Roadless Area.
For this year's project, we will be installing a fence along a FS/BLM property line that sees a lot of illegal motorized trespass. We will also seed and reclaim the illegal routes that enter this section of the Roadless Area.
In addition to supporting elk, pronghorn and mule deer, the Puma Hills Roadless Area provides nesting areas for American peregrine falcons and production areas for wild turkey.
Volunteers should bring a lunch, water and clothing suitable for the weather conditions. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring work gloves if you have them. Wild Connections will provide tools, snacks, drinks, and a much deserved post-work day treat!
Sorry, no dogs allowed. Maximum 15 participants. A carpool or caravan from Colorado Springs will be arranged.
For details or to sign up, contact John Sztukowski at 817-939-4239 or john@wildconnections.org.
