MURIETTA FALLS is the Bay Area's 2nd longest waterfall (Phantom Falls is longer) and named after the legendary 1800's outlaw Joaquin Murieta (http://sptddog.com/sotp/jomu.html). This will be a strenuous hike with lots of uphill and downhill and fantastic views of the falls and Ohlone Wilderness!

HIKE DETAILS:
Start time: 9 A.M.
Distance: 12 Miles.
Pace: 2.5 MPH approximately.
Type: Semi-Loop.
Elevation: 4000 ft.

Difficulty: Very Strenuous due to distance & elevation gain.
Hike Time: 6-7 hrs.
Event fees: $1 cash.
Parking Fee: $6 per vehicle
Ohlone Trail Permit Fee: $2. Obtain at the park kiosk.
Guests: No, hike is for Wildcat Members Only.

WHAT TO BRING: $1 cash for hike fee. Headlamp, Sturdy hiking shoes, layered clothing, wind gear, Lunch, Hat, Gloves, 2 liters of water or drinks. Trekking polls due to steep inclines & declines.

WHO SHOULD ATTEND: Very fit hikers who can handle a 12 mile hike with approximately 4000 feet of elevation gain. Hikers who enjoy a long day outdoors away from their cell phones and internet! Members willing to answer the RSVP questions and have read the "About Us (http://www.meetup.com/adventurers-194/about/)" page.

HOW TO ATTEND: Join like any other hike and answer the RSVP questions. Due to the strenuous & logistical nature of this hike attendees are required to answer the RSVP questions. Members who have a history of last minute cancellations or a record of "No-shows" may be excluded from this hike. Attendence is at the discretion of the organizer.

WHAT TO EXPECT ON THIS HIKE: Short breaks will occur including a longer lunch break. The organizer requires that all participants stay with the group and wait at trail junctions.

DIRECTIONS:
From Livermore, head south on Livermore Road, and this will bend east and turn into Tesla Road. Turn right at the Mines Road traffic light. This is located just as you're coming out of town. Take Mines Road for a 5 miles and bear right onto Del Valle Road. You will see signs pointing to the park. Descend into the Del Valle and soon you'll come to the park entrance. Pay the entrance fee ($ 6.00) and continue on the main road. You will also need to pick up a permit to hike the Ohlone Wilderness Trail ($2.00). Cross the bridge and turn left. Proceed about 1/4 mile and Park in the campground. Our hike begins across the street at Vallecitos Trail.

Please be aware that we expect you to take responsibility for your safety while we are out on the trails. This means arriving ON TIME to leave with the group, being prepared with adequate hiking gear, waiver form, hike fee and making sure the difficulty level of the event IS NOT beyond the limits of your health & conditioning. In addition, please show COURTESY to fellow members by changing your **YES* RSVP to a **NO** if your plans change. **IMPORTANT** Members who regularly sign-up for events, but who DO NOT show-up, may be removed from the list, to make room for more reliable members.
