* Do you have a personal website in need of an overhaul?
* Are you working on your personal brand/looking to change jobs in 2020 and need to create a showcase site to support this?
* Would you like to start blogging and don't want to use a blogging platform?

If the answer to any of these is yes, and you already have some experience with coding, then this workshop is for you.

Starting from scratch, in this 90-minute session you will build a new site live on the web for everyone to see, containing:

+ A home page and About page.
+ A blog ready for you to populate with your own writing.
+ A Blog List page which displays an index of your posts.
+ Project pages that you can use to showcase your work.

You will learn how to:

+ Configure a GitHub repo to get your website live.
+ Build and deploy efficient, reusable layouts instead of writing and maintaining an HTML file for every page on your site.
+ Construct a blog section on your site and publish to it from your computer or phone.

Take a look at suze.dev for an example of a GitHub Pages site.

Please note that, due to the time constraints for this session, this particular workshop is not suitable for code newbies.

To be able to participate in this class, you must have all the following:

+ Your own fully-charged laptop running MacOS, Linux or Windows 10. We will send you a list of tools you will need to download ahead of the session.
+ Familiarity with Git and GitHub (cloning, forking, pushing, committing etc).
+ Experience of using the command line to manage files and Git processes.
+ Experience of coding concepts like variables and loops (in any programming language).
+ An understanding of the structure of HTML files.
