WMR Beginner and Beyond Ride Like A Girl Mountain Bike Ride

Pocahantas State Park

This event repeats every Tuesday! We will work on getting used to our bikes and the trails both in the dark and the light. Helmets are required. Let's get in the woods and have some fun! Boys are welcome too but the women of the WMR will set the pace. There will always be 2 WMR ride leaders--one out front and one to sweep! No rider will be dropped. ***This ride is a mountain bike ride for beginners who already know how to ride their bike. So basically those attending this ride should already know how to shift gears, how to use their brakes and how to ride up and down hills on the road. The pace will be a BEGINNER ride pace set by the WMR ride leader!*** On the 1st Tues of every month we will start our weekly ride downtown. Please Park in the Tredegar parking lot under the train trestle for these rides. On the second Tuesday of the month we will ride at POCO. When we ride at POCO since we will be riding in the dark after September 15, please park in the parking lot next to the ranger station inside the main entrance. Don't forget to fill out the Night mtn bike form listed at the bottom of this page. On the third Tuesday, we will park in the parking lot next to the Outpost bike shop. On the fourth Tuesday of the month we will ride from Basic City Beer Company close to Legends. For all rides except POCO which is 6pm, please be on your bike and ready to ride by 545pm. What to bring: Helmet - required. Water and snacks. Spare tube. Gloves and protective eyewear are also recommended. The Night Mtn bike form for all POCO rides can be found at http://files.meetup.com/4572872/Night Mountain Biker.pdf. Please print it out and bring it with you to the ride! A good biking light is mandatory when the days are shorter starting September 15. We recommend at least 800 lumens. Please put Lorene's number into your contacts-[masked]. RVA Because I Said I Would August Meeting

Online event

Let's continue to challenge ourselves in the month of July and beyond to do the essential work of unpacking our biases, and to help each other take action and dismantle the privilege within ourselves so that we can stop (often unconsciously) inflicting damage on people of color, and in turn, help other white people do better, too. This election could change everything. We have so much at stake: the future of our democracy, our climate, and the equity for which we are striving. Let's tap into our women’s talents and networks to take coordinated action. By regularly meeting as a group, we stoke collective energy and are invigorated to forge ahead. Zoom details will be coming soon!
