Contributing to open source as a tech writer @ Wikimedia Foundation
Details
Join us at the Wikimedia Foundation for an evening on contributing to open source projects as a technical writer.
Open source projects are a great way to build experience, write portfolio pieces, and learn new tools. MediaWiki, the open source platform behind Wikipedia, is a project welcoming tech writer volunteers and has many opportunities to contribute.
Contributing to MediaWiki as a Tech Writer
Juan Lara is a volunteer contributor to the MediaWiki documentation. He'll present on his experience as a volunteer, what you can learn, and how you can get started.
Wikimedia staff will briefly present on specific projects looking for documentation help.
Small-group working session
Make your first contribution and have fun collaborating with fellow tech writers. After the presentation, we'll break out into groups and help https://mediawiki.org with their documentation.
