Orlando Word Lab

This is a writing workshop that will focus on learning a new technique or method each month. A guest speaker will share a sample of their work and then give a writing prompt for everyone to follow.

We'll all write for 30 minutes, and then share our work with others, and receive helpful suggestions about what to improve. Bring your laptops, tablets, or notebook and pen and a willingness to learn.

We will meet on the 4th Wednesday of every month.

This month, Natasha Samreny and Jeff Rembert will teach us how to present our material at an open mic or other reading. Being able to share your work can help you grow your audience. By learning how to read your work with a little verve, you can not only learn where to improve your work, you can shine like the star you are! Take your work from the page to the stage. Bring your work to life by learning how to work the mic, work the room and share your work with an in-person audience.

Natasha Samreny is a multicultural military brat who traded in Mormon seminary for solo book clubs at the bar. Raised by recovering Catholics, she aligns with anyone who treats garlic as a food group. Samreny is a working comedian and storyteller who started as a reporter but trained in comedy at The Second City. She's been seen at Edinburgh and Camden's fringe festivals.

Jeffrey is co-founder of Writers of Central Florida or Thereabouts, founder of Going Yard Productions, and Associate Editor of FORWARD Florida magazine. He produces comedy shows, performance workshops, and open mics and taught his granddaughter what words to say when watching college football. Jeffrey has worked as a journalist and PR exec for daily newspapers, local and trade magazines, and communications firms in the sports, agriculture, hospitality, real estate, and finance sectors.
