Wild Food and Useful Plants (Certification Program)
WEEKEND ETHNOBOTANY SERIES #1 with author and guide Christopher Nyerges!

"Wild Food and Useful Plants" is part of a new certificate and certification program for Los Angeles nature lovers.

This 4-part series will be held on the third Saturdays of the month: May 17, April 21, May 19, June 16.

Session 1 begins with a plant walkabout as we get to know the common local wild food plants (both native and exotic) and useful plants, including plants that can be used to make soap and rope and medicine.

Then we’ll cover some basic botany to give a sense of context of the types of plant groups, such as entirely safe groups and families, as well as their relationships.

Participants will be instructed on the use of the plant press, how to construct a DIY plant press, and how to keep field records for reference. What to bring: water, sunscreen, anything for a short day hike.

• Price: $65 per class. If three classes are paid for in advance ($195) the fourth class is FREE!
• Location will be given once confirmed: RSVP on Meetup will not get the location info. Instead, RSVP directly to Christopher in the office at (626) 791-3217 or by email: christopher_nyerges@yahoo.com.
