Lovers of literature, those who swoon for allusions, former English teachers, writers, and anyone with a strong appreciation for the craft of the written word would find a home in our club.
I started this book club after leaving a ten-year teaching career, and I knew what I would miss most were the spirited discussions about high-level texts. We focus on high-level literature (both classic and modern). This is a serious book club - members are encouraged to come ready to contribute to a dynamic conversation, perhaps with their books annotated or with questions for discussion.
Some of my favorite discussions were on the novels The Bee Sting, This Other Eden, Frankenstein, and Mrs. Dalloway. We value a diversity of opinions; what's better than two bibliophiles engaged in a dynamic discussion on their disagreement of a novel's central message?
We meet once a month in Ambler, and we'd love to have you join.
