Anime and manga were once niche interests that began gaining traction in the '80s and '90s. By the 2010s, thanks to global hits like Attack on Titan, One Punch Man, and Demon Slayer, they had exploded into the mainstream.

But the 2000s? That was a unique in-between era — a time when passionate communities were forming, yet anime still flew under the radar for many. It was the decade that saw the rise of the legendary Shonen Jump Big 3: Naruto, One Piece, and Bleach. It also marked a boom in other genres like Romance, Slice of Life, Horror, and a growing presence of anime targeted at older audiences, like Seinen and Josei.
