A11yNYC Goes to Civic Hall: Celebrating 35 years of people and technology

This event will be online and in-person. The speaker and YouTube live stream starts at 7:30 pm ET. In-person attendees may arrive as early as 7 pm ET.

Important note
We're gathering in a special location to celebrate 35 years of people and technology. It will be held at Civic Hall at Craig Newmark Auditorium, 2nd Floor, Civic Hall – The Bernard Goldstein Center. 124 East 14th Street, New York, NY 10003.

Description
We're working on having multiple speakers give lightning talks. Stay tuned!

Accessibility
The presentation will have human captions [CC], not automatic captions. There will be an ASL interpreter.

For Aira Visual Interpreter access for the Blind and Low Vision community, download the Aira Explorer app on the Apple App Store or Google Play. For access in the physical space, the A11yNYC geofence should apply automatically.

Location details
The Craig Newmark Auditorium is situated on the 2nd floor of Civic Hall.

Upon entering the building, please proceed to the elevators, which provide direct access to the 2nd floor.

For security purposes, all attendees may be required to check in at the reception desk in the lobby before proceeding.

Transportation options
Civic Hall is located near several public transportation options:

  • Subway: 4, 5, 6, L, N, Q, R, W Trains: Union Square Station is approximately 100 feet from the venue.
  • Bus: M14A/D, M1, M2, M3, M55: These bus lines have stops in the vicinity of Union Square, providing easy access to the venue.

Accessibility

  • Union Square Station is equipped with elevators and is fully accessible.
  • The building entrance at 124 East 14th Street is ADA-compliant, ensuring convenient access for all attendees.

Parking
While street parking is limited, there are several parking garages nearby for those who prefer to drive.

Ride-sharing services
Cabs and ride-sharing services can drop passengers off directly at the building entrance on East 14th Street.

All A11yNYC meetups are pre-approved for IAAP Continuing Accessibility Education Credits (CAEC).
