Got Data, Now What? Storytelling Through Accessible Design

Data has power, but only if people can access it. In this session, Dr. Angela Young breaks down how to turn dashboards, charts, and reports into inclusive, engaging tools by weaving accessibility into both design and storytelling.

From practical WCAG tips to narrative strategy, this talk invites everyone -- whether you're in product, UX, or data science -- to rethink how information is delivered. If your charts exclude your audience, your story gets lost.

Attendees will leave with practical strategies to build accessible dashboards and visualizations, deeper awareness of how storytelling supports inclusion, and tools to help teams bake accessibility into design from day one.

Presenter bio
Dr. Angela Young (they/them) is a queer, nonbinary, multiply disabled accessibility strategist with a passion for transforming complex systems into inclusive experiences. As Lead, Enterprise Technical Accessibility Training and Awareness, Angela helps teams embed accessibility into everyday product decisions.

With a background in education, tech, and design, Angela combines practical training with systems thinking and lived experience. They specialize in demystifying accessibility for devs, designers, and data teams, reminding us that inclusion is not extra work but the real work.
