About the Web Experience Toolkit (WET) with Laura Wesley & Nick Schonning

Details

In a very fortunate turn of events we convinced Laura Wesley & Nick Schonning to come over and present on the much talked-about Web Experience Toolkit (WET).

Presentation start time: 6:30 pm

The Web Experience Toolkit (WET) is an open-source web framework for building and maintaining websites that are accessible, usable, and interoperable. WET is led by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat and has been collaboratively developed and maintained by Government of Canada departments and external Web communities. WET is free of use by government departments and external web communities equally.

"WET conforms to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG 2.0) AA and leverages both HTML5 and Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) to further enhance accessibility.

WET eases compliance with the Standard on Web Accessibility, the Standard on Web Usability and the Standard on Web Interoperability. It is highly recommended for use on Government of Canada websites."

You’ll find her discussing and collaborating all things nerdy on her blog - usability4government.wordpress.com (http://usability4government.wordpress.com), on Twitter - twitter.com/resultsjunkie (http://www.twitter.com/resultsjunkie), and on LinkedIn - ca.linkedin.com/in/laurawesley (http://ca.linkedin.com/in/laurawesley).

Nick is an enterprise developer & Civil Servant by day, Open Source over committer by night, and full time nerd.

Please accept our apologies for this surprise meetup. Laura was coming down from Ottawa for the "Customer Experience for Public Sector" conference and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to invite her & Nick over. Huge thanks to Richard Pietro (https://twitter.com/richardpietro) for introducing us to Laura & Nick.
