Welcome to 2021, everyone. This is our first meetup of the year. I hope you're all doing marvellously well.

Throughout the year, we hope to share some of our talks from our 2020 #a11yWeekTO events. Tag us on Twitter @a11yTO, or in the comments if you have a favourite.

Our first meetup features Tolu Adegbite's #a11yTOConf talk, How We Can Begin To Design For Cognitive Disabilities. Tolu will be part of the conversation through chat and answer questions in a moderated session after her talk.

How We Can Begin To Design For Cognitive Disabilities

Cognitive disabilities are the most common kind of disability. Yet, it’s a disability that is not often discussed when it comes to web accessibility. Let’s talk about concrete steps we can take towards making the web more accessible for people with a range of cognitive disabilities.

Tolu is a product designer, developer and accessibility specialist based in Toronto. She currently works at Shopify. She’s passionate about social justice and creating inclusive spaces on and offline. In her free time, she writes about accessibility and mentors tech professionals from underrepresented groups, especially Black women. She also loves plants 🌿 and the occasional emoji.
