The talk will cover learnings about how to do research with people with facial palsy and the challenges of adapting the headset and creating experiences for these users. Marg Laing and Claire Baert will explain how user research was brought into the product team and show examples of how user-centered design techniques were employed.
They will discuss their collaboration on a new VR therapy for people with facial palsy, including:
- Applying and adapting user researcher techniques for VR.
- Creating VR therapy and doing research with people with facial palsy.
- Challenge of doing research during the lockdown.
The talk is for anyone interested in user research and VR. Particularly those with a focus on VR for good and medical or rehabilitation applications for VR headsets.
PRESENTER BIOS
Claire Baert is project manager at Emteq who manages a £5m portfolio of health tech projects. Her background is in video games, where she learned about usability, user experience, and accessibility. She is passionate about using games and tech for good.
Marg Laing is a UX researcher, passionate about VR and exploring experiences beyond the rectangle. She has spent the last 20 years teaming up with folks from creative agencies, start-ups, banks, agile developers, and the world in the quest to make stuff better.
