How Scala Improved Our Java

In this talk, Samuel Reid discusses how his learning and mastery of the Scala programming language led to numerous changes in how he and his team approached Java software development.

And Sam will talk about, you don't have to use a functional programming language to write cleaner, more declarative code!

The talk will be held at 6pm at the Gamow Tower at the Physics Building at CU Campus. Here's a webpage with a picture and directions:

The Gamow Tower is northeast of the JILA tower (they look similar). The doors for entry are at the base of the tower, and the tower has an elevator that goes to the 11th floor, and we'll meet in the "Physics Commons" room on the west side 11th floor of the tower.

There is a paid parking lot directly east of the Gamow Tower (entrance by the roundabout). Closest free parking is about a 10 minute walk, in the Engineering parking lot directly east of the tower, on the south side of Colorado.
