About us

Above the Canal Dinner Club is for adults in Northern Delaware who want to meet new people in a way that actually feels natural.

Instead of showing up to a giant mixer and hoping for the best, members take a quick personality and preferences quiz. From there, we create small dinner groups of six people who are likely to click. On event night, you show up at your assigned restaurant, have dinner with your table, and enjoy real conversation with people you did not know before. There is also an optional after-party where everyone can mingle after dinner.

This group is built for people who want friendship, connection, and community without the awkwardness of traditional networking events or huge social meetups. Some members are new to the area, some are looking to expand their circle, and some just want a better way to meet interesting people nearby.

Above the Canal Dinner Club: Hockessin
Join us Wednesday, September 30 at 6:30 PM for an evening of dinner and conversation at several restaurants throughout Historic New Castle.

Above the Canal Dinner Club brings together small groups of people for dinner at local restaurants. We coordinate everything behind the scenes, from the dinner groupings to the restaurant assignments, so all you have to do is show up, meet your table, and enjoy dinner.

Most attendees come on their own, making it an easy way to meet new people in a relaxed setting without the feel of a traditional networking event.

How it works
Registration is $20 per person. Food and drinks are purchased separately from the restaurant.

Your registration includes:
- A seat in a curated small dinner group
- Your restaurant and table assignment
- Group matching based on a short questionnaire you complete after registering
- All of the behind-the-scenes coordination for the evening
Before the event, you'll receive an email with your assigned restaurant, table, and everything you need to know for the evening.

Dinner begins at 6:30 PM on Wednesday, September 30 at restaurants throughout Historic New Castle.

The evening before the event, you'll receive an email revealing your assigned restaurant, table, and arrival instructions. You won't know who you're dining with until you arrive and meet your group.

Signing up on meetup does not register you for this event. Registration must take place on the Above the Canal website.
