(Hard) Lake Peak Summit Hike

Details
Join me for a scenic hike to Lake Peak (12,409 ft) in the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range just outside Santa Fe, NM. This route offers sweeping views, alpine terrain, and a fun challenge with some light scrambling near the summit. This will be my first time hiking this trail, so it will be as much exploratory for me as for you.
🔹 Trail Overview:
We’ll be hiking Lake Peak via the Tesuque Peak North Fork Trail , which is about ~6 mile round-trip route with about ~2600 feet of elevation gain. The trail starts at the Aspen Vista trailhead and climbs steadily through forests, meadows, and rocky ridgelines until we reach the summit. The final approach involves some Class 3 scrambling—nothing overly technical, but you’ll need to use your hands for balance in some places and be comfortable with moderate exposure (heights).
đź•’ Pace & Expectations:
Start time is at 9:00 AM and look to finish at around 2:00 PM. We'll be maintaining a moderate pace. ~2.0mph going uphill. Nothing too strenuous.
For those wanting to carpool, we'll meet at the parking lot at Target on Paseo 7:30 AM.
